My interests focus on conservation and sustainable development. More specifically I am interested in how communities, scientists and politicians can collaborate more efficiently to improve human wellbeing and protect the environment simultaneously.
Since June 2020, I have been a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, working to support Galápagos in achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. As part of this I co-launched the Co-Galápagos initiative (www.co-galapagos.org) in early 2021 to connect people around the world wishing to support Galápagos with community-led projects on the ground in conservation and sustainability. The initiative also works to connect these community leaders with researchers and local policy-makers. Prior to my current position, I completed my Ph.D, also at Cambridge, researching the impacts of roads on birds in Britain. I have been running an additional project in Galápagos since 2015, studying an introduced bird species, and have contributed to various other research projects. As well as this, I enjoy science communication, work to raise awareness of abusive relationships and campaign for gender equality, and am a keen wildlife photographer and hiker.
